8th DIGITAL INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL – CHILE

Dreams are born deep in our unconscious, expressing our feelings and ideals, looking for a reality that shapes this new form of expression.

DIGITAL DREAMS invites you to the 8th Digital International Film Festival, building a world of possibilities to our imagination, which will be held March 24, 25, 26,  and 27, 2010 in the Municipal Theatre in Viña del Mar – Chile.

OBJECTIVES:  To offer to Chilean and foreigners audio-visual producers a space of encounter, diffusion, competition and creation for films made in digital format.

 DATE OF THE EVENT:  It will take place at Viña del Mar Municipal Theatre in January 2009, from Wednesday the 24th thru Saturday the 27th.

 DIGITAL FILMS CATEGORIES

 

Feature Films:

Feature Film Fiction:  Official competition for feature films, of Chilean or foreign origin, with minimum 60 minutes duration, made in digital format.

Feature Documentaries: Official competition for documentaries, of Chilean or foreign origin, minimum 50 minutes and maximum 90 minutes of duration, including credits, made in digital format.

 

Short films:

Fiction:  official competition for fiction genre, made in digital format, 30 minutes maximum duration, including credits, of Chilean or foreign origin.

 

Animation and Experimental:  Official competition for films developed in the animation and experimental genre, made in digital format, with a maximum duration of 10 minutes including credits, made by Chileans or foreigners.

Documentary:  Official competition for films that are developed in the documentary genre, made in digital format, with a maximum duration of 30 minutes including credits.

Bicentenary: Official competition for films that developed the Bicentenary Theme of the following countries (Argentina, Colombia, México and Chile).  Made in digital format, with a maximum duration of 30 minutes including credits.

Show out of competition: films out of competition made in digital format, with a maximum duration of 90 minutes including credits.

 

4. - GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR SUBMISSION

Only films finished during the years, 2008, 2009 and 2010 are eligible to postulate.

Films received for the competition, in the different categories, will be preselected.

In order to participate in each category the producers will have to send a copy in one of the following formats: DVD (NTSC or PAL), spoken or subtitled in Spanish, for the preselection stage.  In addition they must include the following promotional material:  photos of the film (300 dpi), synopsis, list of credits and a complete bio of the director. For the preselection stage all films, must be placed in a box or case, indicating on the cover the following information:  category, film title, director name, e-mail, telephone, year of production, duration and country of origin.

The films selected for the Official Competition must be represented by a member of the production team: director, producer or another member.

5.- WORKS THAT HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THE COMPETITIVE SECTION IN PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF THE DIGITAL INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

6.- COPIES FOR EXHIBITION DURING THE OFFICIAL COMPETITION MUST BE IN OPTIMAL PROJECTION CONDITIONS.

• DIFF Prize

10. - TRANSPORTATION OF COPIES

a)  All expenses regarding shipment of films, are the responsibility of the entrant.  All film received will remain at the organization of the Digital International Film Festival, as audio-visual archive, which could be used for non profit promotional purposes, in showings, in forums, other versions of the DIFF, etc.

 

11. - INSURANCE OF COPIES

a)  The Festival does not assume responsibility for damages or losses incurred during the shipment of copies

b) In case of serious damage or loss of a film during the festival, the organization will be responsible for the replacement cost of the copy, as long as this situation is notified during the competition.

FILMS RECEIVED THAT DO NOT FULFILL THE GENERAL CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION AND THE REQUIREMENTS OF PRESELECTION WON’T BE SELECTED.

 

WHEN REGISTERING A FILM THE PARTICIPANT UNDERSTANDS AND ACCEPTS THE MENTIONED GENERAL CONDITIONS.
