About us

The Digital International Film Festival was born in 2003, due to the absence that existed in Chile of an audiovisual instance in which the filmmakers had the opportunity to exhibit their works in this format.  Subsequently the contest extended its call to foreigners, thus becoming until now the only one of its kind in the country and Latin America dedicated to promote the digital format.

In its 7 years, the International Digital Film Festival has managed to encourage the Latin-American audiovisual community thanks to the specific of its format.  During these years it has received more than 2,500 works, and has counted with the presence of important actors, directors, producers and guests of national and foreigners, due to the different treaties established with prestigious international festivals.

Another of the strengths of the contest is the varied and innovative programming.  This is a work carried out by renowned programmers in Argentina, Spain, France, United States and Chile, who are at the vanguard of the most important independent works of the globe.

This, added to an assistance that surpasses 10 thousand people and to the great media coverage, has consolidated it as one of the most important appointments of the film world.  For its 8th version, and with the idea to continue growing, the contest has prepared a reengineering of its corporate image and identity as audiovisual event.

The first change is the name, therefore from now on the International Digital Film Festival will be called DIFF (Digital International Film Festival de Chile 2010); while the second relates with a date change, therefore will be moved from January to March, specifically the week from the 24th  thru  27th of March 2010.

This event is organized by The Centro Cultural Quinta en Movimiento, and co-produced by the Universidad del Mar and Lastarria 90.  Has the support from Fondo de foment audiovisual 2009, and the sponsorship of the Municipalidad de Viña del Mar and the Bicentenary commission of the Government of Chile.
